local centre development

MAD architects are currently working on a scheme to redevelop the site of the Trumpeter as a new local centre for the Grangewood estate.

Whilst many public house are being converted into convenience  stores with the loss of social amenities for local communities, we are working with our client to undertake a complete redevelopment of the site to provide much needed facilities, whilst providing a new cafe/ bar for community.

Over the last couple of months we have been canvassing the opinions of local groups and residents to develop a scheme which meets the needs of the community, and will hopefully provide a catalyst for further investment in the area over the coming years.

The current scheme includes a new convenience store, along with 3 to 4 additional smaller independent retail units, potentially including hair dresser, launderette, take away.

The new cafe bar is intended to provide a day long service, providing local residents with a place the meet.

In addition to the on-site facilities, as part of the development we are looking at options to create a new path to the adjacent health centre, providing a direct link between areas of the estate.

The was submitted to Chesterfield Borough Council planning department at Approved at the committee meeting on in July 2015.

We are in the process of developing the detail design for the scheme and expect the project to be onsite later this year.

Enquires about the development can also be made to the developer via email
