Site Update: A Record Season for the Dragons
Usually, our updates focus on sites across Sheffield & the Peak Distrcit, discussing steel beams and planning conditions. However, this week’s update focuses on a different kind of groundwork in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
At MAD Architects LLP, we are proud to support our local community. For Architect Martin Rix, this goes beyond sponsorship; he actively manages the Chesterfield Junior Blues FC u15 Dragons, who compete in the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League.
Season Progress
We are currently celebrating the team's best season to date. Grassroots football is the ultimate "messy reality"—it’s about turning up on freezing Sunday mornings, dealing with muddy pitches, and keeping morale high when the game gets tough.
The boys have shown incredible dedication this year. They have secured a record 16 points, racking up 5 impressive wins and a hard-fought draw. It has been fantastic to watch a group of local teenagers grow in confidence and work ethic over the last nine months.

Technical Focus: Investing in the Future
While our day job involves ensuring buildings stand up, our role here is simply to ensure the team has what they need to play.
We were delighted to provide the Dragons with their new away kit this season. Seeing the team turn out looking professional and unified makes a difference to their mindset on the pitch. The photo above was taken immediately after their final game—muddy boots, tired legs, but a great sense of achievement.
It is a privilege to support the next generation in Chesterfield, providing a structure where they can learn about teamwork, resilience, and discipline—skills that are useful long after the final whistle blows.
What's Next
The season has concluded, and the boots are being cleaned. The team will take a short break before pre-season training begins for the Under-16s campaign. We look forward to seeing what they can achieve next year.
